Through its call for expressions of interest as a winner of the 2023 maritime intervention fund operated by the Directorate General of Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture (DGAMPA), the Maritime Cluster of New Caledonia sought technical assistance to set up a blue economy observatory for New Caledonia.
SML and BDO worked together to carry out this work, which will provide a clear and up-to-date vision of the blue economy and its potential to inform public and private decision-makers in their investment policies in terms of infrastructure and the skills needed by the sectors. Developed in Power BI, the Observatory aggregates and details key figures for each blue economy sector (traditional, emerging, cross-sector) (jobs, turnover, number of companies, developments and trends, etc.).
SML contributed its economic expertise to the definition of the observatory (architecture and indicators) and also implemented its approach to maritime and coastal capital, with the aim of providing a diagnosis and a global and integrated view of the area's blue economy, taking into account the area's economic, political and social factors.
