Funded by the European Commission since 2019, the project "Co-evolution of coastal human activities & Med natural systems for sustainable tourism & Blue Growth in the Mediterranean" (Co-Evolve4BG) aims to analyse and to promote the co-evolution of human activities and natural systems in the coastal tourist areas of 5 Mediterranean countries (Tunisia, Italy, Spain, Greece and Lebanon). It thus aims to stimulate blue growth and the sustainable development of tourism activities by mobilising the principles of integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) and maritime spatial planning (MSP).
Within the framework of this project, piloted by the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM - Tunis), SML was commissioned to implement training and participatory workshops in the 7 pilot areas of the project aiming to elaborate, in cooperation with local stakeholders, and with the support of a team of local facilitators, local action plans for a more sustainable tourism.
