Co-Evolve4BG : Participative drafting of action plans for sustainable coastal tourism in 7 pilot coastal sites in the Mediterranean
June 2022 – June 2023
Funded by the European Commission since 2019, the project “Co-evolution of coastal human activities & Med natural systems for sustainable tourism & Blue Growth in the Mediterranean” (Co-Evolve4BG) aims to analyse and promote the co-evolution of human activities and natural systems in coastal touristic areas of 5 Mediterranean countries (Tunisia, Italy, Spain, Greece and Lebanon). It thus seeks to stimulate blue growth and the sustainable development of tourism activities by mobilising the principles of integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) and maritime spatial planning (MSP).
Within the framework of this project, steered by the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM – Tunis), SML has been commissioned to implement training and participatory workshops in the 7 pilot areas of the project, aiming to develop, in consultation with the stakeholders of the territories, and with the support of a team of local facilitators, local action plans for a more sustainable tourism.
