National Strategy for the Blue Economy

At the initiative of the European Commission, this project has made it possible to support the dialogue between the European Union and Algeria, in order to contribute to the development of the Algerian blue economy by promoting sustainable management of the country's coastal and marine areas.
The specific objective of the mission is twofold:
- support the authorities in the formulation of the country's strategy for the promotion of the blue economy, and
- identify and formulate a support programme for the fisheries sector, integrating sustainable management of fisheries resources, protection of marine ecosystems, social inclusiveness and coordination with other sectoral actions.
Within the consortium, SML participated in the comprehensive stakeholder analysis of the action, in supporting the authorities to engage in a dynamic consultation process, and in drafting a blueprint for a national blue economy strategy, together with a proposed budgeted action plan.
