European Platform and Assistance Mechanism for Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP)
September 2019 – September 2022
The European Platform for Maritime Spatial Planning (PEM) is funded by the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE). It aims to inform and communicate about ongoing MSP processes in Europe with the aim of supporting all EU Member States in their efforts to implement the EU Maritime Spatial Planning Directive (2014/89/EU), committing coastal Member States to prepare plans by 2021. Within the consortium forming the assistance mechanism, SML ensures the relationship with the authorities in charge of MSP in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Member States and provides its expertise to the various objectives of the platform: updating national information on MSP, production of technical studies, information monitoring, identification of “good practices” across Europe, etc.
