The WESTMED initiative aims to support the preparation of a maritime strategy for the Western Mediterranean and the development of an action plan to implement this strategy. SML has been involved since 2015 as the French National Hub, and as such conducts a constant monitoring of the maritime data and context of the basin, as well as studies and analyses on the maritime economic activities in these different countries, feeding the elaboration of the strategy in 4 axes (Development of the blue economy, Maritime safety and security, Improvement of skills, Implementation of governance). In parallel, we actively participate in maritime events in the region, some of which are organised and facilitated by the assistance mechanism, and provide summaries and recommendations on stakeholder involvement.
